Weekly Summary Menu Commands
Save Weekly Summary
Weekly summaries can be manually saved by
selecting “Save” from the “File” menu.
Export
Weekly Summary Weekly summaries can be saved
and exported to a floppy disk and turned into your director if your
director uses the Director’s Assistant. To export the displayed
weekly summary, select “Export” from the weekly summary’s “File”
menu. The weekly summary “Save As” window opens where you need to
enter a name for the exported summary. It is recommended that you
work out a coding system with your director which would include your
initials along with the date. Windows 95 long file names are not
allowed. The system will automatically save the summary with the
.sum file extension. With the name entered, insert the disk and
select the Drive which you inserted the disk into. (a or b) in the
“Save As” window. With the drive selected, click “Export” to save
the summary to disk.
Print Summary
To print the weekly summary, select “Print”
from the weekly summary’s “File” menu. The system will print the
summary displayed in the window. Weekly summaries are automatically
saved before they are printed.
Create a Text File
With your summary open, click “File” then
“Create Text File”. The system will automatically create a file in
your system’s directory called summary.txt. The file will be
displayed in the Window’s Notepad. It should be noted that
formatting features do not exist in simple text files making it
necessary to view the report with a consistently sized font.
(Notepad usually defaults to a system font which should work fine.
Courier is another consistent font) Because of the lack of
formatting options, this option isn’t “pretty” and should be used
where HTML options are not available.
Create a HTML File
HTML is the file format of the Internet.
Many email clients have the ability to send and display HTML files
as regular email instead of as a separate file attachment. This
allows the recipient to receive the message already displayed and
formatted. Formatting options are extensive with HTML so your
accomplishment sheet looks great. With your weekly accomplishment
sheet open Select “Create HTML file” from the “File” menu. You will
receive a message indicating that the file has been created. The
system creates a file called summary.htm in your system’s directory.
(c:\dawin\summary.htm) See your email program’s documentation for
specifics on attaching or inserting summary.htm into your emailer.
Closing Weekly Summaries
To close a weekly summary, select “Close”
from the weekly summary’s “File” menu. |
