Utilities,
To restore, you simply copy the dawin directory from your CD drive and paste it
back onto your C drive, replacing the trial installed dawin directory.
Put the backup CD into the CD drive of your computer. Click "Start" and then "My
Computer". (Non XP double click on My Computer on your desktop.) In the My
Computer window, click on your CD drive. (The drive that looks like a CD. If
you have more than 1 drive, it's the drive that you've put the CD into) You
will see the yellow Dawin directory that's on the CD. Click 1 time on the
yellow Dawin directory to highlight it. Then click "Edit" (at the top) and
select "Copy". Then, click "Back" to move back to My Computer. Then, Double
Click on your C drive. With your C drive displayed, click "Edit" and "Paste".
You'll get a warning, asking if you want to replace the files. Click Yes to All
to replace the trial info with the data on your CD. When the copy is
complete, close the
My Computer window and open the program back up.
There's an issue with some older CD burning software that automatically changes
the files to be "Read Only" when they are saved to the CD. This will prevent
the program from accessing it's files. If you cannot access the program after
copying the files, you should check the files status. To change the files'
status, click Start and then My Computer. (non XP will find My Computer on your
desktop) Click on your C drive and on the C drive, double click on your DAWIN
directory (yellow dawin folder). This will display the files in the dawin
directory. Click on the dawin.mdb file with your RIGHT hand mouse button and
select "Properties". At the bottom the file's properties window, you'll see a
"Read Only" checkbox. Uncheck Read Only and click OK to close the window. If
you want to be able to open your Order to the company, you'll need to do this
same procedure for each order file that you want to view. Your orders are
located in the Orders subdirectory. With the Dawin window open, double click on
your Orders yellow folder. This will show you your order files. They are
numbered files ending with .ord. (1.ord, 2.ord...) You only need to turn the
read only off for orders that you need to open.
